Boomfest will be this Saturday, August 29

Saturday August 29th, Vinton's Annual Boomfest will be held in downtown Vinton. The Annual Boomfest event will be held this Saturday morning beginning at 9:00 a.m. and end at 2:00 p.m. downtown Vinton on 4th Street.Included in the vendor lineup will be Arts and Crafts, Antiques, Artists, Informational Booths and Food Vendors will be present including the Vinton Lions Club, The Salty Hog & Summer Kitchen. Scratch Cupcakery will be located on the corner of 4th St.

Vinton Public Library to offer After School Program

The Vinton Public Library is offering an after school program for any school aged child who might need to spend more than 15 minutes while waiting for a ride home. The program will be available Monday-Friday during 'in person" school sessions.Registration is required but it is FREE to participate.The Library will provide a fun and safe environment for your children after their school day.

VFW to hold Flea Market on September 25th and 26th

The VFW & Auxiliary will be holding a Flea Market on Friday-September 25th and Saturday-September 26th 2020. It with be held on the County Home Road at 5999 25th Ave TrailVinton, Iowa from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on both days, at the former Friends of Shelter location. Shellsburg American Legion Breakfast New Location

The Shellsburg American Legion Saturday morning breakfast has been moved to Divine Decadents (candy store) next to Roy's until the storm damage in the legion can be repaired.The hours are the same, 8 - 10 am. We ask people to social distant at the tables (families, of course, can sit together) and wear masks if you choose.  The breakfast will be served to keep handling items to a minimum.

Share Food Pantry to be held this Thursday in Shellsburg

There will be a Share Food Pantry distribution this Thursday, August 27th from 4 to 5:30 p.m. in the back of City HallPlease feel free to share with those in Shellsburg that need help in recovering from the storm

CP FRIENDS OF LIBRARY WE’RE STILL FRIENDLY, JUST SOCIALLY DISTANCED

The Friends of the Center Point Library met in masked-person Aug. 19 after about six months of COVID cancellation of activities and meetings.The Andersen Public Library opened carefully in July for masked, limited hours (M-W-Th 4 to 8 p.m. and T-F 8:30 to 12:30 a.m.) and so did the Friends’ used book sales room.Friends officer Ginny Luchauer has been keeping the salesroom stocked and organized.

Center Point Historical Society to host cemetery walk Sunday, Sept. 2

The Center Point Historical Society will host the Annual Cemetery Walk on Sunday, September 20, 2020. The event will begin at 4:00 p.m. at the Center Point Cemetery.The cost is $5 for admission.  Masks are required; lawn chairs suggested.  In case of rain the event will be held on September 27.  (Because of family illness, Jim Sherman part of program will be postponed until next year.

Vinton Lutheran Home to Hold Drive Through FUNdraiser

September 10th, from 5-7:00 p.m. the Lutheran Home’s Annual FUNdraiser will be held a bit differently. This year, a drive through event will include Pulled Pork and Philly Cheesesteak Sandwiches, Pasta Salad, Cottage Cheese, and of course Homemade Pie and Ice Cream! Make sure to buy raffle tickets so that you can win some amazing prizes!All proceeds will go toward the purchase of additional iPads to continue communicating with families throughout the pandemic.

AMVETS grilling at Hy-Vee today through Sunday

The AMVETS will have their food trailer up and running and will be cooking at Hy-Vee Fresh Friday through Sunday, August 21-23 starting around 10:30 a.m.This is going to be the fundraiser for the Scholarship Program in our area.  As always, it is free will donation.   The menu includes soda, chips, and sandwich – burger, brat, or hot dog.
